A few weeks back it was the night before Wellspring devotion group and I had not written a devotion. Life had been really busy and I just did not have it in me to get a devotion done. I knew that writing one would be stressful, so my friend Stephanie had the idea to have each woman bring a favorite Bible verse to share! This turned out to be a wonderful idea and it was great for us to dig into our Bibles and choose a verse to share with the other women. The discussion was awesome and when the devotion group was over that morning, I was so glad that we decided to do this. It was exactly what we needed that morning. God definitely knew what he was doing.
Sometimes when life is so busy, we must have the courage to step back and realize we cannot do everything. We must prioritize and only do what we are able. And when I made that conscience decision to not write a devotion last time, I had to let the guilt and self-destructive words go. Instead, of being really hard on myself and feeling like a slacker, I tried to embrace my decision and feel relaxed about it. And my am I glad I did. The Bible verses shared were powerful and each woman had a story to go with why they chose that particular verse. We all agreed it was hard to pick just one verse.
Here are the Bible verses that were shared.
John 1:9-“The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.”
Song of Solomon 2:4-“He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.”
1 Corinthians 13: “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
Isaiah 40:31-“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Psalm 23- “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
1 Samuel 2:25-“If someone sins against a man, God will mediate for him, but if someone sins against the Lord, who can intercede for him? But they would not listen to the voice of their father, for it was the will of the Lord to put them to death.”
1 Philippians 4:13-“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
In the 10 months since we started Wellspring it has definitely enriched my life! It is such a blessing to be able to start the day surrounded by positive, God-loving women. If you are wondering, Wellspring is a morning devotion group focused on encouraging women to relax, recharge and renew their faith with God’s word. Life is busy and filled with many distractions. Wellspring is a time for women to grow and pray together. Women from Worthington and the surrounding area meet the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 a.m. in the Family Room at Grace Community Church. One of the things I really like about this group is that it is women from all walks of life, women from a variety of churches. In fact, attending a church is sure not required, we want all women who long to know Jesus more to join us and be encouraged by the word of God. If you live in the area and would like more information please feel free to email email@example.com or send us a message on our Facebook page.
